Work Readiness Program
In 2008, SITM launched a daylong seminar in cooperation with JOIN to provide job skill coaching to women that need a little help. SITM provided various educational grants to 10 women. Seminars are now held yearly. more
Women's Scholarships
Each year SITM awards approximately $40,000 to undergraduate women re-entering college or to graduate women students. The deadline to apply is February 15. more
Thanks to Youth
This annual fundraising luncheon awards over $19,000 annually in youth scholarships to high school seniors. This luncheon also recognizes young “unsung heroes” in our community with shopping sprees. Applications are distributed to local elementary, middle, and high schools. more
Partners in Education
SITM has supported Libby Booth School since 1990. Initially, we assisted at-risk students with funds to participate in various sports. SITM later became a Partner in Education with the school. We continue our help with Christmas gifts, teacher/staff recognition events, and other projects.
Christmas Senior Gift Distribution
SITM assists in the delivery of gifts and food boxes to senior citizens for the Salvation Army’s Silver Angel Tree.
Aly’s Prom Closet
SITM staffs Aly’s Prom Closet during high school prom season. Aly’s Prom Closet provides clothing and services to deserving high school students.
Air Race Calendar Sales
Each year SITM sells calendars at the Reno Air Races. SITM members also man the Reno Air Race Association booth. Funds raised go to many service projects throughout the community.
Happy Dollars
Each week SITM members share events in their lives and give happy dollars. Each month’s happy dollars is donated to local, national, and international causes. Some examples in 2007-2008 were Angora Fire Victims, Weed & Seed, Paws for Love, Launching Pad, Sisters of Joseph of Carondelet, Karatu Primary School, and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Women's Opportunity Awards
The Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards program provides women with cash grants to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education and additional skills training. The program helps women improve their economic status by preparing them to enter or re-enter the workplace. Competition begins at the club level with local awards set by participating clubs. Region Awards of $3,000 and $5,000 per honoree are funded by the Soroptimist International of the Americas Federation. more
Violet Richardson Award
Presented to young women 14-17 whose volunteer activities make the community and world a better place. Competition begins at the club level with local awards set by participating clubs. Region awards are funded through SIA, with the awardee being presented $1,000 and a check for $1,000 awarded to her volunteer organization as well. |

Nepal Dormitory
In partnership with the people of Thulipokhari, Nepal, SITM helped build and now maintains a dormitory for girls who previously had to walk two to four hours one way to reach classes at the Janata Sudarsham Multiple Campus. Funds are raised through SITM’s semi-annual garage sales and through donations of members and others to provide room and board and school tuition for the girls. more
Nepal Animal Assistance Program
SITM provides short-term, low-interest loans to villagers towards the purchase of water buffalo, goats, chickens and bee hives to improve their ability to farm their land, produce food for their families and provide income-generating opportunities. More

SITM participates in numerous national and international projects through SI, SIA, and SNR. more
